The NMMS Scholarship in Assam is valued at Rs. 12,000 per year, which is equivalent to Rs. 1,000 per month.
NMMS Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the NMMS Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:
1. Class: Only students studying in Class VIII in Government, Local Body, and Govt. Aided schools are eligible.
2. Marks:
- - Students need to have a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in their Class VII examination to appear for the NMMS examination. This requirement is 5% less for SC/ST students.
- - Awardees must obtain a minimum of 55% marks in Class IX and XI, and 60% marks in Class X to continue receiving the scholarship. SC/ST candidates have a relaxation of 5% in these marks.
3. Family Income: The scholarship is awarded to gifted or meritorious students whose parental income does not exceed Rs. 3,50,000/- per annum.
4. Type of School: Students must be regular students studying in Class IX, X, XI, and XII in Government, Government-aided, or local body schools for a maximum period of four years.
Who is Ineligible for NMMS Scholarship?
The following groups of students are not eligible to apply for the NMMS Scholarship:
1. Students studying in private schools can participate in the scholarship exam, but they are not eligible for this scholarship.
2. Students studying in "Kendriya Vidyalaya" and "Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas" are not entitled to receive this scholarship.
3. Students studying in Residential Schools operated by State Government Institutions, which provide facilities such as boarding, lodging, and education, as well as students studying in private schools, are also ineligible for this scholarship scheme.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to apply for the NMMS Assam Scholarship:
1. Visit the Official NMMS Assam Scholarship Portal.
2. Scroll down and go to the Important Web-Links section.
3. Click on the "Online Application Form" and complete the registration process by clicking "Register Now".
4. Fill in all your personal and educational details in the next stage and upload the necessary documents.
5. Pay the application fee according to your category.
6. Finally, submit the form.
Documents required to be uploaded with the online application form:
1. Scanned copy of the Candidate's Photograph.
2. Scanned copy of the Candidate's Signature.
3. Scanned copy of the Candidate's Caste certificate (Only for OBC, SC, and ST candidates).
4. Scanned copy of the Candidate's Disability certificate (for disabled candidates).
5. Scanned copy of Declaration Form.

Selection Process for NMMS Scholarship
The selection process for the NMMS Scholarship Scheme includes a written examination consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), which will be held on 18th November 2023. The examination will be conducted in both Assamese and English mediums, while the OMR sheet will be in English.
To help candidates prepare for the examination, the 'Bidyarthi' app on the Google Play Store provides access to the previous five years question papers.
Additional time will be given to children with disabilities, as applicable.
The examination consists of two papers: the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Here are the details of each paper:
- - Mental Ability Test (MAT): This paper carries a total of 90 marks and will be conducted from 10.00 AM to 11.30 AM.
- - Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): This paper also carries a total of 90 marks and will be conducted from 01.00 PM to 02.30 PM.
To be selected for the scholarship, candidates must meet the following conditions:
- - The candidates must pass both the MAT and SAT tests, scoring at least 40% marks in aggregate for these two tests (32% for SC/ST students).
- - Additionally, the candidates must have scored at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade in their Class VIII examination (50% for SC/ST students).
