"Eligibility Criteria for Atmanirbhar Asom Scheme"
The beneficiaries of the Atmanirbhar Asom Scheme must meet the following criteria:
Residency: The beneficiary should be a permanent resident of Assam.
Age Range: The beneficiary's age should fall between 28 and 40 years.
Educational Qualification: The beneficiary should have at least passed Class 10.
Professional Skills: The beneficiary should possess skills, knowledge, etc. necessary for undertaking income-generating activities (ITI, Diploma, etc.).
Loan Default: The beneficiary should not have defaulted on any loans.
Government Service: The beneficiary should not belong to a family of government service holders or pensioners.
Family: Only one member per family is eligible.
Employment Exchange Registration: The beneficiary must be registered in the Employment Exchange of Assam before April 1, 2023.
How to Apply for the Atmanirbhar Assam Scheme?
Interested and eligible individuals can apply online to avail the benefits of this scheme once the official portal is live. According to the information received, the online portal will begin accepting applications from 23rd September onwards. Key Features of the Atmanirbhar Asom Scheme
The Atmanirbhar Asom Scheme represents a unique initiative by the Government of Assam. Its primary aim is to create employment opportunities by fostering the establishment of new entrepreneurial ventures. The scheme is designed to promote self-employment prospects among micro-entrepreneurial youth from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families and low-income households. Below are the key features of the Atmanirbhar Asom Scheme:
1. Beneficiary Coverage:
The scheme targets to benefit 2 lakh eligible beneficiaries over the next 2 years. Specifically, 1 lakh young individuals will be focused on in the fiscal year 2023-24, with the remaining 1 lakh targeted in fiscal year 2024-25.
2. Financial Assistance:
The financial support will comprise a combination of a Government grant along with an interest-free Government loan, which is to be repaid after a period of 5 years. This funding will be utilized for establishing micro-enterprises or service units. Depending on their eligibility, beneficiaries will receive either 2 lakh, 3 lakh, or 5 lakh in two installments.
3. Skill Training:
Selected beneficiaries will be required to undergo a one-month training program at designated educational or skill training institutions. This training aims to enhance their entrepreneurship, management, and accounting skills. During this training period, a stipend of Rs 10,000 will be provided to the participating beneficiaries.
